JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Department Manager or Director, the Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of department services. This individual is decisive, collaborative, open-minded, team-focused, wholly in support of the WhidbeyHealth vision and fully invested in the success of the staff and organization within our community. A qualified Supervisor will demonstrate the ability to support and further a patient-centered care culture and provide caring and dedicated leadership to their management team. The supervisor provides operational leadership to the Manager and may be responsible for designated shifts or segments of the department. |
PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS includes the following, other duties may be assigned:
The Clinical Operations Supervisor for Medical Ambulatory Care is responsible for the following:
- Works cohesively with the Department Operations Supervisor and the Department Manager/Director to provide quality patient care in the areas of medical oncology, infusion, wound care, palliative care and diabetes education.
- May coordinate the clinical staff schedule as appropriate with final approval from the Department Manager/Director.
- Attends meetings as a Department Representative.
- Provides input and conducts performance evaluation process of staff members.
- Participates in the interview process for new Service & Support staff members and provides feedback to the Department Manager/Director
- May conduct staff meetings with the staff members or daily “huddles”.
- Helps to create policies, protocols and standard work processes for clinical staff in all areas of medical ambulatory care.
- Works closely with the Department Manager/Director to complete required standards for the cancer program accreditation by the Association College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACOS/COC)
- Delivers information about changes in procedures or processes to other staff within the Department as directed by the Department Manager/Director.
- Serves as department representative for COC meetings.
- Works cohesively with pharmacy in relation to drug inventory and administration processes.
- Ensures appropriate staffing and all shifts are covered in conjunction with the Department Manager/Director.
- Coordinates computer issues or concerns and reports problems to the IT Department.
- Acts as a liaison with other departments to identify and support problem-solving.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- BSN preferred.
Training and Experience
- Two years progressively responsible leadership position.
- Ideally possesses an understanding of critical access hospital operations and have experience providing community-based healthcare in a rural setting.
- Experience and knowledge of implementing best practices desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Washington State DOH RN License required.
- Current BLS HCP required.
- ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification
- Oncology RN certified (OCN) preferred
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must be able to plan, prioritize and organize work assigned within communicated deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Must be highly organized and demonstrate an attention to detail when completing all work assigned.
- Must possess effective professional interpersonal skills as well as excellent service skills in all interactions with the ability to communicate effectively on the phone, in person and in writing.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees in the organization, take direction, and have the ability to build and maintain inter-and-intradepartmental relationships.
