The Cancer Epidemiology Research Program in the Public Health Sciences Division is seeking a highly motivated individual to support a complex cancer research study involving health and behavioral interventions. The Cancer Epidemiology Program is part of Fred Hutch Cancer Center's Division of Public Health Sciences, home of an extensive portfolio of population science research, large specimen and data repositories, a SEER cancer registry, a prevention center designed for intervention research and a multidisciplinary faculty. Fred Hutch, together with the University of Washington and Seattle Children's, is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with training programs for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Responsibilities

The Exercise Specialist will work with study participants who have been diagnosed with cancer in various exercise clinical trials in Dr. Dong-Woo Kang's Lab. This position will involve communicating with study participants, coordinating and leading web-based virtual exercise sessions, recording exercise session data, and assisting with research-related activities such as data entry.

This position is an hourly clinical research position, spread out over several days per week. A few early morning/evening and weekend hours may be required contingent on participants' scheduling availability.

The Exercise Specialist is responsible for:

• Scheduling participants for their virtual or phone sessions.
• Leading exercise sessions virtually/remotely using Teams or Zoom, and providing exercise guidance tailored to the needs of each participant.
• Assessing and communicating with participants for their health-related conditions relevant to exercise and cancer treatment.
• Closely interacting with the study PI and other research staff regarding study participants and research related topics.
• Additional research-related tasks may be requested based on interest and experience.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, or relevant field.

• 1 year experience instructing exercise classes.

• Current certification in C.P.R. and basic first aid.

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in clinical and/or research setting (working with people with cancer is highly desired).
• Experience with REDCap.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.87 to $32.56 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
