In this role, you will provide support to oncology patients who are seeking cancer-directed
therapy. The primary focus of the nurse includes, but is not limited to symptom
management, education regarding disease process, advance care planning
discussions, provide emotional support to patients and their loved ones, and
partner with oncology nurse practitioners to triage and identify patients with
palliative care needs. The incumbent works collaboratively with an
intradisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners and social workers.Major functions include patient screening and assessment, patient
evaluation, patient communication, preparation and administration of
intravenous drugs, immunizations, and patient education.
Salary range: $59.46/hr - $88.39/hr
Qualifications
Required:
Knowledge
of the adult patient population and practice operations
Obtain
and maintain palliative care certification (if not at time of hiring,
within 1 year of hiring
Working
knowledge of the UCLA registration system, appointment scheduling system
and order entry system Ability
to maintain confidentiality and to work with sensitive and confidential
information using discretion and judgment Ability
to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference, and
hostility Skill
in performing with frequent interruptions and/or distractions including
the ability to accept equivocal circumstances and respond to changing
priorities and deadlines Ability
to interact diplomatically and sympathetically with patients, their
families, and general public in a high volume, clinical setting Skill

instruments and supplies required to perform necessary blood tests and

of BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association Possession
