The Patient and Family Education Program Coordinator will plan, develop, and evaluate patient education collateral under the supervision of the Program Manager. This individual will partner with subject matter experts to develop and review education material through a variety of modalities, including documents, videos and eLearning modules. They will review and assess proposed additions and changes to Fred Hutch's patient and family educational materials and programs. As part of this role, they will interact face-to-face, over the phone and/or via email with patients, caregivers and family members. This individual works independently in performing their job duties.
Responsibilities
- Partners with subject matter experts to develop patient education in multimedia formats, including videos, eLearning modules, print materials, online resources following departmental style guidelines and health literacy best practices
- Plans, organizes and oversees development of patient education video production and eLearning modules.
- Manages the patient education mailbox, including managing document translations with project requester and translation vendor, processing print orders and responding to requests.
- Helps patients, caregivers and family members find resources in person, via phone or email.
- Updates and maintains the patient education department SharePoint site.
- Gathers and compiles metrics for the department and contributes to the annual report.
- Contributes to departmental budget development.
Qualifications
Required:
- BA/BS in a related field of study
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated understanding of health literacy best practices, with special focus on plain language writing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion when interacting with patients and families
- Strong project management skills
- Stays organized, is detail-oriented and self-motivated
- Thinks critically and initiates problem solving
- Skilled in all Microsoft Office applications
Preferred:
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) Instructional Design certification
- Education or experience with adult education, communication, instructional design, video production, learning and development or related field
- Experience with SharePoint, Adobe Creator
- Experience with learning management systems such as Articulate
- Experience working in a healthcare organization

The hourly pay range for this position is from $31.21 to $46.80 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
