This position is responsible for all aspects of research charge capture including Clinical Trial account monitoring and charge review to ensure research charges are captured and billed/invoiced correctly.
Responsibilities
- Work with study coordinators/research staff, principal investigators and department managers to:
- Develop effective and compliant charge capture mechanisms
- Identify and resolve charge capture and pricing issues
- Maintain daily monitoring for all clinical trials utilizing Fred Hutch service centers for research activity to ensure:
- Charge capture occurs appropriately (study or patient accounts)
- Study billing grid and budget with sponsor ties correctly to charge capture for study/patient billable activity
- Communicate monitoring outcomes and feedback to appropriate clinical trial staff and departments
- Notify and communicate clinical trial charge monitoring exceptions
- Fred Hutch CRB and Ops Sys Manager
- Study staff/coordinators and Principal Investigators
- Integrity/Compliance office
- Collaborate with Fred Hutch EAP Coordinators and Decision Support regarding research charge capture, research price quotes and analysis reporting as needed
- Escalate Clinical Trial charge capture issues as needed to Manager, CRB & Operations Systems
- Assist Revenue Cycle department staff with:
- Development and implementation of productivity standards, work methods and procedures for staff
- Provide feedback and coaching when standards are not met
- Highlight accomplishments when standards are met
- Monitor Medicare CMS website:
- Identify alerts, rules and memoranda applicable to clinical research
- Understand and apply memoranda to day-to-day operations
- Explain Billing requirements to all levels throughout organizations
- Abide by compliant billing practices
- Collaborate closely and frequently with departments and clinical staff on setup of charge capture processes
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma
- 4 years of relevant experience; patient or sponsor billing, clinical care coordination, study coordination
- Working knowledge of registration, charge capture and billing processes
- Project management skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills; Outlook, Excel, Word
- Excellent judgment and problem solving skills
- Strong analytical background
- Understanding of CPT, ICD-10 and medical terminology
- Effective communicator, able to navigate and discuss diverse research charge capture and regulation subjects with various work/communication styles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal supervision, identify problems and apply problem solving skills to complex clinical trial situations and organize and prioritize frequently changing tasks and deadlines

The annual base salary range for this position is from $69,472.00 to $104,187.20 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
