The Srivastava Lab at Fred Hutch is looking for a highly motivated Research Technician I to support the development of CAR-T cell immunotherapy for cancer. The successful candidate will assist with design, execution, and analysis of pre-clinical studies using murine tumor models to study strategies for improving CAR-T cell therapy. She/he should be capable of handling mice, maintaining detailed laboratory records, analyzing data, and reporting experimental results in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities will include working both independently and as a member of a team, providing technical assistance with ongoing research projects.
Responsibilities
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform sterile tissue culture techniques, including primary T cell culture, growing and titering of retrovirus and lentivirus, and transduction of murine cells with retroviral/lentiviral vectors
- Assist with in vivo murine tumor model experiments, including: monitoring weight, body condition score, and tumor growth; administering injections (intravenous, intraperitoneal, and subcutaneous)
- Dissect and process various tissues, including spleen, peripheral lymph nodes, bone marrow, lungs, and tumors
- Analyze cell phenotype and function from in vitro and in vivo experiments using multi-parameter flow cytometry
- Prepare samples for analysis by next-generation sequencing methods, including single-cell RNAseq and CUT&Tag
- Molecular biology techniques, including bacterial plasmid preps, PCR, and cloning
- Maintain detailed records, schedule mouse studies and analyze data
- Provide basic support to the laboratory
- Perform general lab/equipment maintenance, keep stock of lab supplies, and assist the lab manager with general upkeep of the lab
- Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Prism (Graphpad), FlowJo
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a biological science
- Prior experience working in a wet lab environment
- Detail-oriented, well-organized, and have good attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively and keep accurate records of work performed
- Ability to work on a team
- High level of self-motivation and initiative
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience with sterile tissue culture and mouse handling
- Prior exposure to immunology (this can be from coursework or prior lab experience.)
The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.87 to $32.56 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
