Job Description
UT Health San Antonio is expanding its clinical care services with the opening of the UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty & Research Hospital, an eight-story, 144-bed facility providing advanced, uninterrupted patient care.
Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Education and Nursing Professional Development, the Oncology & Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy (SCTCT) Nurse Educator will partner with program leadership to design, implement, and evaluate clinical education programs to support the competency and professional growth of nurses and clinical staff within the oncology and SCTCT inpatient and outpatient SCTCT units. This role will play a critical part in ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care, enhancing patient safety, and fostering continuous learning.
Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education programs in collaboration with program leadership, specific to oncology and SCTCT nursing, ensuring evidence-based and competency-driven learning experiences.
• Facilitate and support new hiring orientation for oncology/SCTCT nurses, ensuring successful onboarding and integration into unit workflows.
• Assess and address learning needs of oncology and SCTCT staff, providing education for skill enhancement, clinical updates, and regulatory compliance.
• Utilize innovative instructional design models to create engaging, effective, and relevant learning experiences for adult learners.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to promote professional development and best practices in oncology and SCTCT care.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor, supporting staff in applying advanced oncology and transplant nursing principles at the bedside.
• Utilize the Donna Wright Competency Model to develop and maintain nursing staff competencies.
• Provide education and job aids to support the introduction of new equipment, technology, and treatment protocols in the oncology and SCTCT units.
• Research current trends and advancements in oncology and SCTCT care to ensure that educational content aligns with best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Support quality improvement initiatives, assisting in data collection, analysis, and implementation of performance improvement projects related to oncology/SCTCT nursing.
• Participate in Joint Commission readiness efforts, ensuring staff preparedness through targeted education and competency validation.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support education, patient safety, and clinical excellence.
About Us
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
- Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas
- Board Certification in specialty is preferred.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support & Health Care Provider card
