Summary

The Advanced Practice Nurse-Specialty Clinics position is located in Nursing - Specialty Clinics at the Newington campus. This position is full time at 40 hours per week. This position serves our Close To Me program - which support infusions for our Newington Patient Population.

Duties

• VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards The Advanced Practice Nurse will function in Specialty Clinics and provide care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic date gathering - assessment - appropriate nursing judgement - and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems
• Responsibilities include
• but are not limited to: Assisting the supervising Physician (or agent) in evaluation and management of clinic patients: Performing initial histories and physical examinations on new outpatients
• Providing ongoing inpatient and outpatient care for assigned patients
• Managing Oncology Needs for their patients panel
• Assisting in Chemotherapy are when needed (i.e
• patient assessment - handling urgent needs) Longitudinal care for a complex population
• Seeing patients for routine monitoring and/or emergent needs in clinic
• Coordination with Hematology/Oncology Attending physicians
