Education & Training: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Current Maryland Registered Nurse license required. Successful completion of ONS Chemotherapy & Bio-therapy training course at time of hire or within six (6) months of hire. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred. BLS required. ACLS preferred.

Work Orientation & Experience: Minimum of three (3) years' advanced skills and an appropriate level of clinical expertise in the field of oncology and/or critical care is required. Additionally, one (1) year outpatient experience is preferred. Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and education in order to provide this specialty service in an outpatient environment. Successful completion of clinical orientation and IV skill assessment.

Demonstrate skills in: g) planning, implementing, and evaluating patient services; h) making effective decisions; i) critical thinking and problem-solving skills; j) crisis management; k) adapts hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the infusion center; l) verbal and written patient and staff educational programs; m) chemotherapy teaching n) organizing work, setting priorities, meeting deadlines; o) working with physicians and other team members to coordinate patient care; p) ability to work successfully with diverse types of individuals including, management staff, general public, and team members; q) facilitating patient access to community; r) is computer literate with proficiency in data management skills, word processing and electronic medical records.
