- AdventHealth Tampa, a faith-based not-for-profit 626-bed tertiary-level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, womens services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. GME programs on the hospital campus currently include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and transitional year.

The role youll contribute:
The Digestive & Rectal Oncology Nurse Navigator monitors patients with suspected and confirmed digestive cancers (including rectal, colon, pancreatic, liver, esophageal, and stomach) throughout their diagnosis and treatment. The Digestive & Rectal Oncology Nurse Navigator serves as a patient liaison to help patients and family members navigate the complex healthcare system. The Navigator will establish early contact to help identify and eliminate barriers to timely diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship care. The Navigator will serve as a resource for digestive cancer patients throughout the inpatient stay. This position works with a multidisciplinary team to provide improved comprehensive oncology services to digestive cancer patients.
The value youll bring to the team:
- Ensures that all patient care pathways are followed according to the agreed guidelines, including time targets for relevant interventions.
- Performs rounding visits on oncology patients during admission and communicates with providers any essential information.
- Maintains accountability and responsibility for access, facilitation, and coordination of new digestive/rectal patient visits.
- Collaborates with other in-house departments to provide continuity of care.
- Seeking NAPRC (National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer) designation in Qtr 1 of 2026.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed:
- Associate's of Nursing
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)
- Minimum of 3 years healthcare experience upon hire
- Preferred: relevant experience (Cancer patient population: rectal, colon, pancreatic, liver, esophageal, and stomach)
