Position Overview:

Provides safe, quality care in the infusion areas.  Implements the nursing process; assessment, planning, implementation of nursing plan of care, and evaluation of patient response to care. Coordinates patient care planning with other hospital disciplines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Nursing Practice - Provides direct patient care within the RN scope of practice, hospital policy, license, training and certification. Implements the nursing process; assessments, planning, initiates plan of care, and evaluates patient response to care/prescribed treatment. Responds appropriately to emergent patient situations. Follows through on all physician orders as departmentally defined within scope of practice and training in various surgical services departments. Communicates appropriate information to physicians and/or staff/management, responsible for nursing documentation and chart completion per policy and regulatory requirements.
2. Compliance - Knowledge of Title 22, DNV, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), and Community Memorial Health System (CMH) Policy and Procedure.
3. Department throughput - Expedites patient movement, both on arrival and at admission or discharge. Identifies barriers to patient flow and uses critical thinking skills to address those issues.
4. Provides accurate and timely documentation consistent with practice and hospital policy.
5. Takes “call” as needed.
6. Performance Improvement - Contributes to and participates in ongoing departmental performance improvement processes.
7. Education - Within the scope of practice, effectively plans, coordinates, and communicates accurate and timely education for patient and family utilizing all resources available. Participates and contributes in department-based education activities.
8. Assists in any special project assigned by Manager and/or Clinical Coordinator.
9. Duties include, but are not limited to - admit, monitor, and discharge Infusion patients, which includes the following aspects of care: Intake assessment, IV insertion and maintenance, medication administration, follow through on all physician orders, as departmentally defined within scope of practice and training, and handoff communication to varying disciplines.
10.Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
• Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN)
• Current CA Registered Nurse License
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life (ACLS) Certification, or must be able to obtain within (60) days from hire date
• One (1) year of acute care nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Current Chemotherapy Administration Certification
• ONS/INS membership/certification
• Knowledge of Det Norske Veritas (DNV)
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Word Processing software
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
