The Thomas lab in the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division is seeking a Staff Scientist to work on research projects related to TCR specificity and the endogenous and induced immune response to cancer and infections. Work will include developing innovative methods for TCR repertoire amplification and analysis. A mix of experimental and computational methods will be employed with opportunities to develop advanced skills in both.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform experiments using existing, modified, or newly developed techniques/ protocols.
- Set up protocols using new or modified laboratory techniques and troubleshoot experiments independently.
- Identify experimental data pertinent to the analysis problem; process, organize, and summarize data; report results.
- Assist in the drafting and editing of manuscripts, posters, SOPs, and policies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the field and related techniques.
- Provide ongoing support for monitoring, maintenance, ordering, and purchasing of equipment and supplies as needed.
- Independently perform calibration of instruments and equipment as necessary.
- Expected to routinely provide guidance and training to less-experienced team members and may also train others outside lab in relevant techniques.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in biology and at least 3 years professional experience in a relevant field
- Extensive experience with molecular biology techniques, including molecular cloning
- Extensive experience with tissue culture and generation of stable cell lines
- Experience with and understanding of the principles of fluorescent microscopy and image acquisition
- Experience with standard cell biology techniques, including western blotting, flow cytometry, and immunofluorescence
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive experience training students and/or technicians in standard laboratory techniques is preferred
- Background in immune responses to infectious diseases is preferred
The annual base salary range for this position is from $82,118 to $185,016, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
