The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide the day-to-day patient care services of the Conway Medical Center (CMC) positioned as a Duke Health affiliate in Oncology and Infusion services at assigned location(s). The RN will perform duties such as but not limited to; Pre-chemotherapy screenings, fatigue management, assessing patients physical and emotional state, and creating individualized care plans. The RN must review all treatment plans with the oncologist, and be aware of all possible outcomes and complications of every procedure. The RN must also ensure that the patient, as well as the patient’s family are fully educated and aware of every facet of the disease, treatment process, recovery process, and all other vital information pertaining to the Nursing care plan.
The RN will cross cover at times in the infusion therapy suite and will perform duties such as, but not limited to; administering various therapies such as intravenous antibiotics, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood product transfusions. In addition, they may perform such procedures as therapeutic phlebotomies. The RN must also be able to place, access, care for, and maintain IV access devices to prevent and manage IV-related complications.
Education:
Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years specific Oncology Practice experience strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
South Carolina (or compact state) licensure as RN (SCLLR) in good standing required.
Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certified by Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) must be obtained within 90-days of employment date (paid for by CMC).
Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification required.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) preferred.
Other:
Completion of Duke Health Affiliate training in Oncology, Chemo 101, and other additional competencies required after hire date. May be required to travel for education.
Prior experience on the Cerner EMR platform preferred.
