The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic is a very busy Pediatric Clinic that treats a variety of hematological and oncology patients. We are unique in that we see regular clinic visits as well as perform infusions. Our clinic team consists of RN's, CMA's and an administrative assistant who work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality and safety of care for our patients. Each day's workflow varies depending on the clinic, but includes working as a team that includes: patient triage, in-clinic procedures, administering chemotherapy, blood products, IV antibiotics, patient/parent education, medication administrations including vaccines, CVC line care, obtaining EKG, and care coordination. Team members work alongside providers (including physicians, PA's and NP's) during patient clinic visits to provide the needed care our patient deserve. other team members that we work alongside include: Social Workers, Pharmacists, Psychologists and Phlebotomists.
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, no nights or weekends.
Bachelors degree in nursing preferred. RN staff hired with an Associates degree in nursing are required to enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and complete within four. A minimum of one year RN work experience required. Chemotherapy/Outpatient Infusion experienced preferred. Current Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider certification issued by APHON required if administering chemotherapy within one year of hire or transfer to Outpatient Oncology/Infusion department.
Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required by the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
