As a key member of the Endoscopy Unit, you’ll play an essential role in ensuring procedures are performed safely, efficiently, and with patient comfort as a top priority. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll help deliver high-quality care to a diverse patient population undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
Your role will include preparing, maintaining, and processing endoscopes and related equipment. Following established standards and protocols, your responsibilities will include:
Admitting and preparing patients for endoscopic procedures according to hospital standards
Assisting physicians or RNs during procedures, including patient positioning and specimen collection
Cleaning, disinfecting, calibrating, and troubleshooting endoscopic equipment
Performing safety checks and placing appropriate monitoring devices on patients to document vital signs
Preparing procedure rooms and equipment prior to each case
Maintaining inventory and ordering supplies to ensure equipment readiness
To be successful, you should have:
High School Diploma or GED
Must have one of the following: (1) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), (2) Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), or (3) Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER)
Minimum of two (2) years previous experience performing the duties of an Endoscopy Technician
Experience with advanced endoscopic procedures (ERCP, EUS) – highly preferred.
BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification
Strong communication skills
