Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center has an excellent per diem opportunity for an experienced certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Neonatal Physician Assistant/Associate to join our Level III NICU in Bangor, Maine.
The Opportunity:
Join our team of 5 neonatologists and 8 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners who provide 24/7 in-house coverage for patient care and high-risk deliveries.
Our model consists of one 24-hour NNP/PA in-house and often a second daytime NNP/PA for up to 12 hours, 7 days a week.
Practice in our state-of-the-art NICU with 29 single family rooms and 35 beds to accommodate multiple gestations. All rooms include en-suite space for families to stay with their newborns.
Approximately 500 admissions per year, 25% of which are neonatal transports.
Our neonatal transport team provides 24/7 coverage, and we use an RN-RN transport model with helicopter, fixed wing and ground capabilities.
We actively use iNO, whole body cooling, HFOV, bubble CPAP, and exclusive human milk feedings for pre-term infants.
We are an active part of the Vermont Oxford Network, Northern New England Perinatal Quality Improvement Network (NNEPQIN), participate in local and statewide research and other quality improvement projects, and host medical students.
Our NNPs/PAs are involved in outreach education throughout the region and serve as NRP and STABLE instructors.
Qualifications:
NCC certification in Neonatal Care (NNP-BC) or PA certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Must have prescriptive authority
Current Maine NP/PA license or eligible for the same
Minimum of two years’ NICU experience in current role required
