Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

Responsibilities

Dr. Michael Wu's group at Fred Hutch Cancer Center invites applications for an undergraduate summer internship position. The lab focuses on the development and application of cutting-edge computational tools for answering pressing questions arising in biology, medicine and public health science.

Accordingly, the Intern, Research - Temporary will engage in mentored projects at the interface of quantitative and biomedical science with particular projects dependent upon the interests of the intern.

The intern will be mentored by Dr. Wu and lab members (staff, post-docs, and graduate students), as well as other scientists and researchers as necessary. This experience in research will include training in the skills needed for carrying out the projects.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program
• Interest in using math, statistics, engineering, computer science, physics, or other quantitative fields in a biomedical setting
• Good communication skills and an interest in learning
• Ability to work in a team
• Good numeracy, literacy and organizational skills

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $29.54 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
