The Boonyaratanakornkit Laboratory is recruiting a work-study Lab Aide to assist with basic laboratory maintenance. No previous laboratory experience is necessary. Work schedule cannot exceed 19 hours per week.
Work-Study is a college/university program that enables part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. Applicants should be eligible for work-study during this academic school year.
Off-Campus Work Study authorization is required for this position. All students must provide a Financial Aid Award Letter or an authorization to work off-campus to verify their eligibility if selected for this position.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic support to the laboratory
- Assist with animal colony maintenance
- Stock lab products
- Autoclave and remove biohazard trash
- Prepare reagents
- Perform general lab maintenance/upkeep
- Assist with set-up of experiments and work with biohazardous materials, including respiratory syncytial virus and other respiratory viruses
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from High School or equivalent with interest in the sciences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in college
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and databases is highly desirable
- Accuracy and attention to detail, clear communication and dependability are essential

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.00 to $26.22, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked), and prorated paid holidays (up to 13 days per year).
