We are looking for a collaborative and analytic leader to join our team. The primary purpose of this role is to help guide the financial decision making of the organization to ensure the short and long-term sustainability of Fred Hutch through long-range financial planning, business structure analysis, and treasury management. Reporting directly to the Director of Strategic Finance and Deputy Treasurer, this role helps align strategic and financial objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manages the creation and development of assumptions for the clinical long-range financial model, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic plan and financial objectives.
- Conduct in-depth financial analyses to evaluate and optimize core business models, driving improved financial performance and accountability through effective expense management, process improvements and strategic adjustments.
- Collaborate with Finance and C-suite leadership to define and refine financial model assumptions through comprehensive analysis, and integration of strategic initiatives to assess their feasibility within established financial targets.
- Partner with medical and operational leaders to set financial targets and assumptions to guide the annual budget process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Pro-actively identify, investigate, and resolve financial discrepancies, establishing guidelines to prevent recurrence and strengthen financial integrity.
- Responsible for various treasury functions including but not limited to reviewing quarterly and annual filings, assisting with new issuances and refinancing, overseeing covenant calculations, and managing the preparation of rating agency materials and surveys.
- Scans the healthcare and business environments to anticipate and understand healthcare industry and payment trends. Translates learnings into quantifiable impacts to Fred Hutch.
- Provides mentoring and guidance to members of the Strategic Finance team fostering professional growth and enhancing team performance.
- Collaborates with other members of the Corporate Finance management team to create a positive, respectful, and team-learning environment.
- Lead and facilitate cross-functional collaboration within finance to implement change initiatives, enhance processes, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring effective communication and alignment across team members.
- Promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion by supporting practices that create a welcoming work environment where everyone can succeed and contribute to Fred Hutch's mission.
- Develops partnerships across the organization to help ensure strong financial performance and support strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of five years of financial analysis experience.
- Progressively more responsibility in finance with one year in a leadership position.
- Financial experience in a healthcare environment.
- Experience with Excel and SQL.
- Ability to translate business strategy/industry dynamics into complex financial analysis and interpretations with high degree of accuracy.
- Understanding of the present and future of the healthcare industry, including payment methodologies and cost trends.
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing with leadership, clinicians, and staff.
- Ability to research, analyze and interpret complex data and formulate recommendations.
- Ability to identify and resolve or explain inconsistencies in financial analysis and data.
- Strong Excel skills, proficient with Tableau and SQL.
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements.
- Prepares presentations and correspondence to senior management.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Prioritizes projects and bring projects to completion.
- Develops and monitors timelines.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business. Master's degree in Business.
- CPA
- Experience with Axiom and Tableau.
- Experience in academic healthcare including clinical and research businesses.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $118,560.00 to $187,387.20 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
