Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Tumor Registry Analyst to join our Mid-Atlantic Permanente Research Institute (MAPRI) department. This position is a full-time opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington D.C. with a hybrid work model.

Reporting to the Director of Research Programs, the Tumor Register Analyst will directly support the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Research Institute's (MAPRI) Internal Tumor Registry policies and cancer registry organization. You will assist in the development of project materials needed for the cancer program while partnering with health professionals to collect and analyze patient data.
You can expect to:
Record, code and verify accuracy of data information entered into the Cancer Registry database; abstract identified cancer cases by reviewing the electronic medical records
Perform follow-up for the purposes of incidence, treatment and outcomes, performance improvement, administrative planning and marketing, support programs and research activities
Identify new cancer cases into the Cancer Registry database by reviewing documents such as pathology, radiotherapy, treatment reports, death logs, disease indices and death certificates
Collect, maintain, and analyze Cancer Registry data for the purpose developing project proposals and training materials
Report quality issues to supervisor and suggest improvements in registry operations
Contribute to practice development and department administration including, recruiting, debriefing on training, and developing thought pieces on topics like change management
What is required:
Associate degree including human anatomy and physiology coursework, NCRA-Accredited Associate Degree program, or NCRA-Accredited Formal Education Certificate Program required
Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Health Information, Data Management or related area preferred
Minimum three (3) years of work experience in departments involved with the diagnosis and/or treatment of cancer
Minimum three (3) years of work experience in a setting wherein data submission to maintain a statewide or national cancer registry was performed
Ability to obtain Certification by the National Cancer Registrars' Association (NCRA) as Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) or attain certification within 2 years of start date
Demonstrated ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents; read and interpret complex written material
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems logically and systematically
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly face-to-face, in writing, or on the telephone to a diverse community of internal and external customers is required
Must be able to commute to the Regional office in Washington D.C. on an as-needed basis
Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment. Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $62,712.22 to $78,390.11 depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary range above, MAPMG offers rich benefits that add substantial value to the total compensation package.
